tonight while watching America's Next Top Model (got a problem with that?), i went a bit crazy making labels with the label maker given to me for my birthday.
the jar where i store vanilla beans (or used vanilla bean "shells") in regular sugar. gives the sugar a subtle vanilla flavor that is tasty for creme brulee or sprinkling on pie crusts, scones, and cookies.
the shoe kit i keep in the closet with (obviously) my shoes, and keep polish, water proofing wax, and soft cloths inside.
and tossed with the super tender "Provencal" mesclun and dill i picked yesterday, as well as some carrots and balsamic vinegar.
lunch today (packed last night). made some chicken salad with the leftover poached chicken, grapes, Greek yogurt, and Dijon mustard. do i look like a healthy eater or what?
flowers from yesterday. i love this time of year when there are all of the foliage plants available to pick-hosta leaves, ferns, bleeding hearts, allium, and the unknown ranunculus.
more hosta leaves, ferns, and columbine. picking this way lets you pick completely, yet sparsely, from the garden. none of these flowers or leaves will be missed in the greater scheme of things.
