Everything but the Kitchen Sink

or at least that is how these cookies got their name. there are a lot of ingredients, but they are super easy.

mise en place. the ingredients are as follows:
2 sticks of butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups semi sweet chocolate
1 cup sweetened coconut shavings
1 cup raisins (i used golden, because it's what i had in the pantry)
1 cup walnuts (which i omitted)

i cheated and creamed the butter and sugar in the kitchenaid, and also added the vanilla and eggs before using the spoon.

ready to go

ta da! my oldest, most trustworthy wooden spoon. his name is Harold. just kidding. she doesn't have a name.

added the flour (with the salt, baking soda, and baking powder whisked in), oats, and coconut

then the chocolate chips and raisins last (so they wouldn't get smooshed)

dropped in Tbs sized heaps (they don't spread much at all, so i could have fit more. the following batches i fit a dozen on each sheet)

then flattened with the bottom of a glass. put in the oven at 350 degrees for 16-18 minutes (16 was good for my oven)

and cool on a rack. made about, mmmm, 3 1/2 dozen. i think.
the recipe was from an old issue of Martha Stewart Living (you can search the recipe on marthastewart.com-there are a few different variations)
