Honey, or Lemon, or Both? (Honey Sugar Scrub)

i was flipping through the most recent issue of Whole Living magazine the other day, and ran across this quick and easy sugar scrub. J-Bro always makes awesome sugar scrubs each year for the beach trip, but i had never tried it before. this one looked so easy i thought i would give it a go. the ingredients are all things you probably have on hand (the only thing you may need to grab is a lemon), and you can even use granulated sugar if you don't have raw sugar. Honey (the article says) is one of the best natural humectants, which helps draw water into the skin-something i think everyone could use during the last leg of dry, dry winter air. I'll let you know if it seems successful.

easy ingredients-1 cup raw sugar, 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tsp. lemon zest, 1 Tbsp. honey....although while reading these ingredients again, i see that i should have only used a teaspoon of honey. oops!

i really wish it was legal to keep bees within the city limits. i love honey, and would love to have my own hives to both help pollinate the garden AND harvest honey.

right, so this should have been a teaspoon!

add the olive oil, and then mix all together and add the lemon zest.

thought it would be best stored in an old honey jar.

  1. Looks good enough to eat. LOL. I love making my own sugar/salt scrubs. Might have to try your recipe.
