We Have a Situation Here!

after a week of Blizzards, recovery, and work, i was really looking forward to a night at home on Friday. i was also looking forward to watching the newest episode of The Jersey Shore, which influenced my shopping decisions Friday after work. peppers and sausage-perfect for both the cold weather AND watching the Shore Crew. don't you love how honest i am about all the trashy TV i watch? (i watched the finale of the Real Housewives of Atlanta right after)

browning the Italian sausage. i followed this recipe (sort of) but only used five sausages. oh, and they are hot turkey sausage, which I'm sure they also eat in Seaside (since they seem to have a lot of turkey burgers on the show).

substituted one of the two Tbsp. of butter with olive oil.

adding the whole yellow onion, half a red onion, and four cloves of garlic.

then came the peppers, one of each (red and green), sliced, as well as the dried oregano and basil.

then came the wine (i used a wee bit more than 1/4 cup)

after adding the sausage slices back in to cook, covered, for about 15 minutes (i hadn't browned the sausage well enough, so the slices need to cook through, not just warm up).

really good (with lots of leftovers). I'm sure Jwoww and Pauly D. would have loved it.

  1. Have you tried the Johnsonville Irish Sausages yet? Really good and I am quite certain that if Martha doesn't have a recipe for bangers and mash, these sausages will inspire her.
