Messy Desk

Yet another week has come and gone without my desk and office being reorganized. I think I am a pretty organized person, but then I saw this article on Martha Stewart Weddings Editorial Director Darcy Miller's craft room and nearly had a stroke. I'm not super crafty, but the organization is unbelievable, and I do have quite a lot of bags and boxes for packaging baked goods and wrapping gifts.

So I decided I need to be MORE organized, because I have a lot of stuff TO organize. Plus, over a year of tearing things out of magazines, sticking a stack of old photos you find in a shoe box onto a shelf NEXT TO the photo boxes, randomly tossing the extra buttons that accompanied every sweater or jacket I bought in the general direction of the drawer where the other similar packs of buttons are stored, and the mess starts to pile up. Add to that the Christmas cards that were never sent, those note cards I couldn't live without, half a box of Hanukkah candles, rubber cement, a list of ideas for the blog, and the Christmas cards I received that need to be properly filed away. Oy.

My plan has been to take everything off the shelves, go through every single box and container, reorganize everything into the Sterilite shoe boxes I bought 6 months ago to use for this purpose (rather than holding the last thirty or so CDs that need to be uploaded to the computer), and feel less tense when sitting at my desk. That hasn't happened, but, by God, it will!

This weekend, however, is out as there is a rather major birthday to be celebrated.

So I just put some tulips in a little pottery bud vase to make the space look more attractive. Quick fix!

Oh! I also found this great mid-century metal office chair for my desk for half price! That's right! I paid $2.69!!! Another chair is the last thing I need, of course, but sometimes you just have to grab an opportunity, or chair, when it presents itself with both hands!
